Dr. Lawrence Gray, DC is the owner and founder of Gray Chiropractic & Sports Associates, he has been practicing in WS since 1994. He has dedicated himself as a lifelong student who is continually learning the most innovative techniques in chiropractic, repetitive motion injury and recovery, and sports therapy. He holds certification in Acupuncture, Cox Decompression Technique (in which he is also certified as an instructor), ART (Active Release Techniques) and Graston Technique and K – Laser.
In his practice he treats a wide range of patients for chronic and acute pain in addition to specializing in performance care for athletes of all levels. He has worked with NFL players, Olympic and professional athletes from the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta, the PGA, collegiate athletes from a variety of sports, Wake Forest University, the 2005 Ironman competition in Kona, Hawaii, and the 2006 & 2007 Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic power lifting competition in Columbus, Ohio.
Dr. Gray is also very involved with the community. He is a proud sponsor of local events such as Kids for Kids Triathlon and 36 Latitude. Dr. Gray also treats athletes at local events such as triathlons, power lifting meets and Tae Kwon Do events; he believes strongly in giving back to the community and his patients performance as serious as they do. He is avid about teaching the health and wellness of chiropractic care and he conducts lectures throughout the country.
He holds a bachelor's degree in public health from Towson University and a bachelor's degree in human biology and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from National College of Chiropractic. Dr. Gray continues to seek knowledge and education to better serve his patients. He is currently studying to be certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
Marijean graduated from Natural Touch School of Massage Therapy in 2007 after completing their 550-hour therapeutic massage program. She is nationally certified and a member of American Massage Therapy Association.
She was first introduced to massage therapy as a form of rehabilitation after a personal experience with a motor vehicle accident. This experience along with a strong desire to help others helped her decide on a career in massage therapy.
Marijean has treated a variety of conditions ranging from joint sprains, muscle strains, back, shoulder and neck pain, and stress related disorders. Her education has allowed her to have a great understanding and treatments for musculosckeletal injuries. In order to maintain current with new developments in massage therapy she takes ongoing classes that specialize in different massage methods.
Marijean believes in customizing a massage for each client. She provided the most comfortable atmosphere possible to relieve the mind of stress and anxiety. Her desire is to educate and bring body awareness to each of her clients.
Kristie comes to us with a wide range of experience in the medical field. She started out her career as a pharmacy technician and then joined the U.S Air Force as a Certified Medical Laboratory Technician. During her time in the Military she earned her ISSA personal training certification. This allowed her to work with others to improve their health. Kristie wanted to know both aspects of the healthcare field and started working for the insurance industry as a claims supervisor. This led her to learn the behind the scenes working of the insurance industry and pushed her to learn even more. Kristie earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from High Point University. This allowed her to incorporate her knowledge from all three areas, clinical, insurance and technical.
Kristie previously managed the medical billing and database support for a very large Nationwide Medical Consulting and Billing Services Company. She currently serves as our practice manager and clinical assistant.
Maria has joined our team from Ohio by way of Michigan. She moved here last summer from Ohio and is excited to be a part of our team. She is our front desk receptionist and she is usually your first contact with Gray Chiropractic & Sports Assoc.
She has been receiving chiropractic adjustments since she was 7 days old and has been a chiropractic assistant for 4 years. She attended Eastern Michigan University and graduated with a double major in Pre-Med and Occupational Therapy and a minor in Psychology. While attending EMU she ran collegiate track and had an extensive track career. She ran in the 2000 US Indoor Championships, 2001 US Indoor Championships, 2001 US Outdoor Championships, 2002 US Outdoor Championships, 2003 World Athletic Finals, and 2003 Pan Am Games. Her track career has allowed her to gain an extensive personal knowledge of sports injuries.
She truly believes that if done persistently, this drugless approach to healthcare known as chiropractic, can be a wonderful way to end back pain, live pain free, and experience the health you desire. She believes in the vision and mission that Dr. Gray has. She has a wonderful passion for people and loves the hands on experience with the patients here at Gray Chiropractic. Travis has been strength training for over 21 years and has been working with athletes on their strength, speed and athletic performance for over 12 years and the general public for 15 years. Travis has worked with athletes and non-athletes of all levels from NFL and Olympic hopefuls, to twelve year olds just starting out, to a seventy year old senior seeking increased mobility. He has experience working with athletes in several sports including but not limited to: football, basketball, swimming, track and field, mixed martial arts, Tae Kwon Do, baseball, lacrosse, water polo, Olympic Weightlifting, powerlifting, volleyball, cross country, triathlons, wrestling, bobsledding, and many more.
Travis is a published author for several strength and conditioning journals and continues to work with several colleges on an individual basis including University of North Carolina, Appalachian State University, Wofford University, and several others. His approach is unique in the fact that it encompasses all aspects of the athlete. Travis's system covers the following seven aspects: Assessment to form specific mobility and muscular balance plans, Goal Setting, Proper Performance Mind Set, Nutritional Education, all aspects of Speed and Jumping (lateral, linear, vertical, reaction, maximal, etc), Sports Specific Training that tailors the program to the individual sport of the athlete, and continued motivation through Assessment and Evaluations.
Travis applies the same principles to the general public encouraging them to change their lifestyle. Travis is a current world champion in Powerlifting having held the all-time pound for pound World Record. He was also an Olympic Hopeful in Weightlifting and was recruited for the US Men's Bobsled Team. Having been a world champion Travis is able to share his champion mentality with his athletes and non-athletes alike.
